What kind of help will I receive during the course?
Individual tutorials are provided on all courses. These are for you to discuss:
- Your progress on the course
- Any concerns you have about your work or the course in general
- What next? (your trainer may also encourage you to discuss your future educational/training needs with Guidance sessions).
- Group tutorials will cover the fundamental principles of the computer system, etc.

The Guidance Centre
The Guidance Centre offers free and impartial information, advice and guidance to individuals on learning and work.
We have professionally trained, experienced and friendly advisers to assist employed and unemployed clients. Our
advisers are empowered with quality information required to meet the needs of our clients and we pride ourselves with equality of opportunity for every client.
We support our clients with structured one-to-one IAG interview sessions that enable them to make well-informed choices so that they overcome barriers to learning and employment. The Guidance Centre is committed to high standards of IAG delivery and has achieved accreditation against the matrix standard. We assist our clients to return to learning after long-term unemployment, with an aim to encourage clients to develop a more positive attitude towards their life, motivation and improved self-confidence.
The Guidance Centre is also equipped with internet-enabled computers. They are available for clients to search information about training, courses and jobs. We also provide assistance to those who are not familiar with IT.
Our structured IAG sessions emphasises on individual needs through appropriate referrals to:
- Courses
- CV writing
- Gaining interview skills
- Filling application forms
- Job search
- Employability skills training
- Work placements or voluntary work experience
- Motivational and personal development workshops
The centre possesses an extensive library with information about universities, college courses and career. It is well equipped with videos, CD-ROMs and various computer programmes, which can help learners practise their skills and find out information about specific areas of education and individual development.
A leaflet about the centre’s services is available upon request, as well as information about I Can Do It’s health and safety, equal opportunities and data protection policy and recent changes in legislation.
The Guidance Centre’s opening times are between 9.00 to 17.30 Monday to Friday.
